Subject title: Kyoobies's Sketchbook [NSFW..?..but if not yet, then soon..]

Your studies of other artists looks really useful, Kyoobies! Learning a lot of different art styles makes it easier to find the one you wanna do, doesn't it?

By the way, this is my character Ru. To make it short, she's a very happy, outgoing, eccentric girl (older teen/young adult-range) who had some point in her life where she was very depressed, but actively sought to change it. She succeeded, though her love for things dark and morbid is still there, coexisting with her new self (And she knows it/enjoys it, it's not something that's "locked away").

She isn't naturally a super-tiny-super-cute-loli-girl, but she does her best to look like one. She wears a raincoat and rain boots (like a dress, underneath is just underwear), and has a weapon that is a kitchen knife duct-taped to the end of an umbrella. Those are the only things that are certain at the moment, all of the rest up in the air/open to interpretation.

With all that finished, say hi to all the people of the forum Ru. (^▽^)

I'm so bleh right now. ( ̄ヘ ̄)
I'm really frustrated with myself for not drawing enough! I'm trying to get it to be an easier, constant habit, but it just doesn't seem to be working out and it's really upsetting. I'm at a point where I think I need help, so if anyone is interested, here's my post from the mentorship section.

.
Welp, here's a super late response to Koz. Tis bleh, but it exists.
Image

Also I tried to do a half stylized (compared to my other typical stuff) drawing, from a photo reference. Idk if this is a great idea, or a terrible idea lol. But I'll probably try it some more some time.
Image

But I don't want to be all infectiously sad and junk, so here's something I really enjoyed from my art class. (*^‿^*) Messing with line weight was surprising awesome and super fun.

Also, onte thing about yours drawings; I don't know if it's on purpouse that you're not giving your characters clearly marked shoulders. I think that it'd make even the simple chibi characters look much better :)

Those might help ya:

Nice sketches Kyoob! I think drawing stylised studies from reference is fine, as long as you're paying close attention to what's happening in the reference as you style it. E.g. in the one with the arms crossed over. It looks like your stomach section is pointing the other way from the reference due to how you did the creases between the legs (overlaps are very important) and the outline so yeah, I would watch out for that when you are blocking in your shapes, figure out the gesture and the main forms and which way they are pointing etc. If I didn't explain properly I can try to show you an example.

But yes, shoulders are a thing that I've been thinking of a lot with the stylizing I have. And thanks for references! \(≧▽≦)/ They're nice, and the third one is particularly helpful because the bottom has a successful image of a girl who is loli-ish in characteristics and stylization, but still looks developed and mature with her secondary sex traits. AKA a non-underage-loli.

Getting a more comfortable with drawing. Still a ways to go, but it's a start. (*^ω^) Hopefully I'll get some more practice tonight.

Big update time! o(≧▽≦)o
First off a huge thank you to Xiphor and Kozlik! Xiphor helped come up with a schedule for my drawing so I'll always stay active and practicing, and then both of them have drawn with me for extended periods in hangouts. It's so much fun, and in all the time I've drawn I don't think I've ever been so productive, and drawn for so long! ^^

So onto the drawing! First the responses (Which are the most recent drawings, of course :P )

Koźlik wrote:I like the one from spoiler the most ;) "I can't think of anything that could have distracted me..." made me laugh

I'm glad you enjoyed that one. Lol, and with that study...

Then (as much as I can share  ) from my hangout with Koz:

Image

This one isn't really properly colored, just me messing around and not stopping on something that's pretty much done. :P

Then I had my hangout with Xiphor. All the poses were timed at 10 minutes:

And along with those responses, some derps from today. Xiphor mentioned how expressive eyebrows are, and I totally agree.

And he was also working on drawing animals, we started talking about paws, long story short here's a 100% accurate anatomy reference for a cat's paw.

And with my new schedule, Monday is anatomy studies! Today was the torso area/connecting the pelvic area to the rib cage area/abs and obliques. I have no idea if I'm doing this right lol, but it felt pretty good so I'm happy.

Busy busy busy Wednesday, I had a project I had to do for art. And at no point did I take a picture of it because I'm great lol. ^^ I'll get it soon. :P

Anyway, yesterday(/now, because I was super tired then,) I worked on some imagination anatomy. The drawings themselves are derpy derp, but I feel like I've learned a lot so it's okay. (*^ω^) Plus I'll get better over time, I'm still getting used to this system.

Your figures are steadily improving :D
Always try to keep in mind the 3d shape of the individual muscles when drawing, particulary when twisting and turning. Practice bending bricks! i mean... you know what i mean!

Hey, nice anatomy studies! Something that helped me with the abs is to remember that the lower form is a bit rounder unless you have a completely flat tummy, and I really like how the curve looks on female figures =D. Also, in twisting forms try not to break the form of the abs, make it flow in an 'S' through the body, it should look better (as in draw the flow of it first and then draw the details on top, like Proko always says: gesture comes first!) =).

Keep up that awesome work! Anatomy studies really pay off =D.
