So here is everything from the past two weeks. I draw a lot i just am too lazy to upload most of the time. anyway ive got some questions, do you guys think using reference for art is cheating? should I be able to draw everything from memory and have it look good? Also when do you become like good at art. Like i know thats a silly question but is it when you think you are good or is it when other people think ur stuff is cool. I feel like the stuff i have been making recently isnt very good and ive been feeling pretty bad about it :,(

The way you convey form through watercolour is great. Love the technique!

I especially like the face drawings, where you didn't draw the eyes and just showed this little skull shadow ( don't know how it's called) It may sound weird but I really really like that haha

I really like your hands, (the bigger ones.) Did you do an under-drawing or did you do straight ink on paper? And I really like your water color animals. (Who's a good painting! You are!) You've clearly worked hard at it. :D

Hey! im working on proportions, can you tell me if you see anything wrong with my drawings? I know the second one is pretty bad, does anyone have any advice on how to draw ppl from that angle?
here are the reference photos.

Cute doggies! Love 'em!

For the faces, yeah that angle is a pain in the ass. I'd recommend figuring out exactly what the front plane and side planes are and where the dividing lines are. Then you need the perspective of the planes and then mapping the features so they line up with their partner. Then you need to figure out your contours so you know what sticks out and overlaps stuff. It's all very tricky and takes a lot of practice. The main problem is that even though I say figure out what the front and side planes are, the face is so complicated and intricate that there isn't just one giant front plane. It's more like the front plain is imagined and then you dig in or build up from there. I recommend trying your hand at sculpting. That will help you a lot with understand planes in 3 dimensions. Also it's cheap and easy to get into, it's kind of like play dough but with actual tools and materials.
