Has it been over a year already?!

To cut it short, It's been a year of learning, and of revelation! I found my direction. My dream/drive as an artist is to bring a story within my own world to life- maybe in the form of a picturebook. 'Goro' is my world/project. I've been working on this personal project for a while now, and it's been slowly forming in my mind as well as visually (on paper), and I hope to share some of my journey of developing it here- to get some feedback and be a part of this great community again. ^-^

I'll also dig up and share some older work from 2014/15 later

Idea for a vicious 'beast' that roams the northern part of the world. I like the idea of mixing different animal traits- this one has some bison mixed with some kind of feline predator-dextrous and powerful.

I experimented with some pixel art a while ago- it isn't my thing but I like the character I made.

His name's Bo.

Older sketch from last year. Drew this after finishing the 'Clan of the Cave bear' - first book in the 'Earths Children' series-(it's a great book!)

My interpretation of my fav character 'Creb'- I remember trying really hard to capture him exactly as I saw him in my mind.

Part primate, part rodent, part blood-thirsty beast.

Cute little guy... just don't try to pet it.

One of my latest 'Goro' pieces. I really want to create full scenes like this one, even if it's sketchy, this was one of the first illustrations where I've successfully drawn in a background- backgrounds still scare me but this definitely broke the barrier for me ^-^

'Legend tells of a "monster".. that lurks around an old trail that runs through the Oldwood- luring passers-by who spot it sitting innocently on the path ahead- the last thing they see is a monstrous gaping mouth about to eat them whole.'

I like the ambience in all of them. Very indie game looking!

I wouldn't worry Steeliebob, you only see him when you're very young anyway.

Hi Lilla, yes I love 'twists' in things. I'm glad you like my Creb, when I look at him.. I regognise him as Creb from the story and I feel his personality, and that was all I wished for. Thank you ^^

Thanks Fergato ^^ yeah my little overhead lamp helps with that ambience.

Here's a Duck I drew this morning, I've grown to really like this little guy, he's a mutated duck who lives in a polluted world, I have a story/project in mind for him ^^

Your art is fantastic. Truly fantastic. Your pieces look like shadows, but they're bright in a charming and mysterious way - which is what I like to see. It feels like I'm inside of a twisted fairy tale. And that's awesome. Great style ^^

PS: I'm in love with your chocobos, they're too damn cute =').

Thank you.. reading this made me smile ^-^
There's something about shadows/darkness, even in it's most natural form, it holds a lot of interpretive power and potential to communicate and evoke feeling. I'm really interested in how I can use this, I want it to be a big part of my world/characters and (eventual) story.

(Chocobo's are great.)

This scene came to mind while I was thinking about old Smoke Trolls.
I tweaked it a little in PS to give bring out the atmosphere I wanted.

.. I need to focus more on fundamentals I think :D

I'm developing a 'species'/culture, here I'm just trying to figure out the kind of shelter they might live in- a kind of 'Fur' tipi.

The creatures you made remind me of the creatures in Never Alone. (An unknown game, I know  )

The grim feel reminds me of Limbo. Awesome, man.

(For inspiration on those houses, the native americans have cool looking houses too 8D. Just look it up on google. It looks like right up your alley.)

Thanks smallyuri ^^ I love Never Alone and Limbo, the visual style, atmosphere.., they truly had a powerful effect on me and my Art.
And yes native american culture, it's a big source of inspiration for me. Inuit culture too.

Whaaaat, I didn't know that you would know Never Alone. Cool. I see, that's nice. So that's why they give off those kinds of vibes. :D
