Subject title: Fedodika the rookie

roger: thanks man, most of the more rendered studies take 6-8 hrs, the redhead took like 7 hrs. the other chick took
like 3 hrs, got really burnt out on it though it's very flawed

Deerbard: thanks man! still working on that technique, probably will be for a while :)

gonna start doing some stuff the total opposite of what i've been doing. for a while i've been doing this really (desaturated purplish bluish bluaghhh)
smoothed out blended style of things that are supposed to be "pretty." i feel like i'm getting into a rut with my
color choices and stroke patterns etc. so expect some lucian freud studies soon, he does the total opposite of
what i've been doing and his stuff has oddly grown on me. I'm also working on a charcoal pencil portrait for a relative
so i'll get a pic of that when it's done since it's on a huge piece a paper, the rendering will take a while lol.
NOOOOOOOO.png
really goofed on the lighting direction here lol; i'm tired..

mikey: wow! that's an awesome comment, thanks ALOOOT! i really hope that's the case haha

sooo, worked on this a bit today and yesterday, really burnt out lol

it's based of the Yugioh card Patrician of Darkness. I think i'll do some more of these based on cards since it's tough for me to come up with ideas all the time for imagination pieces haha

so i thought i would mention i made a deathline post over at crimson daggers about next month. i will be doing a bouguereau study each day in the attempt to advance my understanding of skin, drapery, and color; 3 things i have great interest in mastering!

Here's the WIP, a no opacity study and a quicker portrait of a dude focused on being neater and more efficient etc.

wow, the mileage you're getting is amazing! I've been out of it for like a week or too because of exams and I feel like I am missing a great deal here when I see your work :). Nice job, keep it up!

You should really try to keep it cleaner when you're painting.

If you really want to take You's advice then I'd change your rendering technique completely, try flatting, use the soft round brush and blend everything(except things that are supposed to have hard edges), go in the complete opposite direction of what your doing so you know what it feels like, then I think you'll be able to find a happy medium.

Nicely done on the portraits though they are still blurry and dirty. Use a bigger brush when doing the blending and lasso the edges so that you wont mess them up. Also to change the name of the thread when you click reply, on the subject part just change name of the subject. That's how I did it.

The eye on the right looks smaller than the one on the left in that last painting.

I really like your skulls though!
