my first attempt at applying what i tried to learn in my last study, the shark went really well, the man not so much

if the man is under the shark theres to much light hittin'im. The shark is cute as all hell. Theme teeth be floss n shiny. would prick a finger or an arm or a leg if i could man.

I noticed that as well and fixed it up with a couple layer corrections

your stuff is so cool, I love the mood and all the textural brushwork. your paintings remind me of an eerie illustrated adventure book or something

Very cool paintings :) I really like your style. Did you mostly learned from doing master studies?

I like your art, you seem to have a kneck for texture\brushwork.

Really love your brushwork - which seems to be a common compliment haha.

Are you working on any projects at the moment?
I don't know what I'm doing

Did a seven hour stream and this was the result. I thought it would be cool if toy story instead of being based on toys was actually a sci-fi action movie, this scene is taking place on the terrifying world of Pizza-Planet as they enter the dominion of THE CLAW!

I like the texture and brushwork in your paintings, the environmental stuff have a nice sense of atmosphere in them, especially the one with the creature at the swamp like area. I've mostly been drawing especially in the past two years and I kinda don't feel like my brain processes brushes and painting much nowadays.
I'm curious do you start with any lines or do you work with values and color off the bat? I'm kinda interested to figure out that sort of mental shift.

i usually put down a base tone and then work with line to get the composition right if it has people or any complex stuff in it, if its just a natural environment without much perspective then i can go right in with paint. (i never start in black and white. when i do it always makes the colour feel off although i do know that some people can make that work

Image
this is as much as my linework will go to though, if i over do it then i usually have a hard time painting into it as i get more attached

Ah I see, yeah I think that's a problem, when you put in too much work in the lines you end up feeling committed to them, I guess they could be useful sometimes but more often than not it becomes a source of extra grunt work, whether it's painting them out or trying too hard to stick to them.

your sketch here definitely looks really solid for a painting so I guess I should remember to keep it decently clean even if it's all gonna be gone at the end, thanks for the quick reply.
