Subject title: Zero's Sketchbook (All comments and criticisms welcome ^_^)

Hello and welcome to my collection of crummy art!

I'm 16 and would like to get a future job in some type of character design or maybe storyboard but I highly doubt I'm talented enough for that. ^^;

Please comment if you can, I would greatly appreciate feedback!

I'm mostly putting this up to log my progress and hopefully get advice on what to improve. So I guess this is the stuff I could scrap together, right now.
I guess let's start with the oldest stuff...
This is stuff from last year:

Spoiler: show

A random morph of a porcupine and a bee

Here is some stuff from more recently:

Spoiler: show
I freaking love plague poctors. I drew this right before my 6 month artist block.

Image

This is something that I drew a week ago. Yes, I know, the eyes are too big and that it really sucks -_-

Image
Image

Some stuff I was drawing last night (Please ignore my notes).

First, these are some eyes I was practicing with:

Image

Then, was practicing different head shapes:

Image
Image

Here I got bored and decided to draw random lines then make a face out of them:

Image

Here is some experimentation on the anatomy of angel wings. This was something I did a few years ago and was quite proud of but can no longer find the paper. I looked at the joints, bones, muscle structure, and feather patterns of birds then attempted to find a way to place them on a human body.

Image

And finally here is a drawing I did referencing a picture online that I did about an hour ago. I completed this in about 20 min.

eyyy same age ayyyy
your lines are kinda. scratchy? idk. Maybe try drawing from your elbow more? have more confidence in your lines! dedicate some doodles to trying to get smoother lines and try to keep from going over them, think about the line you wanna make before you start it kinda thing!
the doodles don't have to be good (or see the light of day lol) just some exercises to build confidence in your lines! I used to do the scratchy lines when I first started drawing and I think it was because I would press really hard with my pencil and I didn't really know what I was drawing or how to draw it? idk.
I kind of instinctively know what I wanna do now so its really hard to explain im sorry if this is confusing aah D:

Nah, I know what you're talking about and I know it's a problem I have ^^" I'e been trying to work on it though. Drawing lighter and using my elbow does help, but I also get too confident and will darken my lies then want to go back and change it. >.<
I haven't posted any of my more recent physical drawings that I've been going over the past few days mostly because I've been working on that exact problem.
I just hope I can break that habit soon because I like having a lot of guide lines and shapes and this has really been screwing me up lately.

Just going to update my progress one last time before sleeping...(Not going to lie, I've been using this as a backup img file transfer between computers)

Welcome to the 16 y/o club :D
Cool sketches! One thing i want to advice you: try to learn form a bit, especially if you want to draw things like heads with horns.

Ps. I love plague doctors too ^^
I like to draw girls. If you like girls too, you should check my Sketchbook ^^
There's stuff on my Twitter and Instagram too.

I'll work on it. Thanks for the advice.
I am still working on various techniques that I need to improve, I just don't want to stop drawing things I like just because I still need to work on techniques, I rather just do them both. I practice a lot durring my free time. (Untill i get the Fallout 4 dlc xD)

How would you suggest I so about doing that? I am also pretty bad at figuring out how to practice things like this ^^"

Hi, some nice studies here, but you need to practice a bit on anatomy
I can recommend you Proko's videos on Youtube. Even if you want to draw manga & anime, proper anatomy is really important ;)

Thanks you for the suggestions. I'll check them out as soon as I can.

Honestly, anatomy is very important to me, (Hell, I've recently even considered a pursuing career in the medical field) I'm just bad at drawing it. I rather not actually draw anime/manga style, as much as I like it, it's just too clean and pretty, I prefer things with more detail put into it. Expressions, actions, emotions. It's just more appealing to me with a touch more realism than you would find in most anime/manga. Perhaps due to my love of lighting and shading....which I also suck at
All the things I prefer in art is just to difficult for me to accomplish right now with my crummy art skills T_T

Your character design looks really nice and clean :D I really like it!
Althrough the shading looks a bit muddy. Maybe you can try other techniques like cel shading? I'm not an expert, but i think fixing it will make your image much better!

Thanks for the input!

Yeah, I know the shading is off, I was in a rush to get that part done. As I had said, this is actually for a graphic design class. We really just had to make a design for a tee-shirt and I decided to make one of a character that I had created and put all my time into the small details, so I was crushed for time today because we have to have it done by tomorrow. I'll probably get around to fixing it before I turn it in though.

And if I dont...well I'll probably go back and fix the shading anyways.

The character itself was influenced by Limbo from Warframe (mainly influenced the way he moves), that creepy puppet guy/ Drossel Keinz from Black Butler, and those Clockwork robots from that one episode of Doctor Who, which was probably the initial inspiration for them.

I'll just thorw in some images of them down here:

The mask was meant to be a play on the idea of the theater masks with one expressing happiness and the other expressing sadness

it was then revised after I had seen a picture of the mask from Darker than Black, which I really liked the simplistic design of
