Subject title: Ambiguity's Sketch Dump

Thanks Xiph'.

I was working on legs a lot today, but there was nothing really worth keeping, so here's some other stuff instead :).
Image
Typical Ambi face stuff, and a few straight painting pieces partially from Chinese tutorials I can't read lol.

45min still life of my mug I did a few days ago. Didn't really learn anything.

Ohh god!!! :0 Really like watching your work, specially you linework. Like how you use those subtle values, make it sooo interesting to look at :)

Your last two female portraits look really nice, I like the skin tone hues in the last update too, also for the still life I think the least that you'll get out of it is better sense of proportion and value and such, though I think that falls in the category of things that you can't notice the improvement in at all.

@sang': Really? There isn't much going on with the abdomen lol.
@Unknown:' Thank you,happy to hear it :).
@Kam: Fank you Kam. I really should have pushed the skin tone shifts to be a bit more obvious though.
@Noba-San: Thanks, I'm actually really on the fence about that one. Like on one hand it feels really realistic to me, which I like, but something about it is a bit off and it bugs me(not gonna bother trying to fix it though).
@Flem Thank you, she kinda looks like the K-Pop star Kahi to me lol. I think the hair could have been better on it, but whateves.

Been doing some value practice after reading a tutorial from Camila Veilmond:

I've been forcing myself to start straight in tone since it's something I wanna get good at. I've actually been doing a lot of leg practice too, but I'm still super uncomfortable with them, so I deleted everything.

It's nice seeing you do those 'good old' value studies ambi. Didn't expect you to do them, but I admire you going back to those basics once in a while :-).. for feedback I can only say something about the portrait really.. I feel there's something with the left (from our pov) eye, it needs to be moved more towards the nose and maybe a little bigger in size? for the rest: great work and keep it up!

@Arte': Yeah, pretty much my only option when I don't know how to push forward, but also it was largely inspired by the stuff I got from Camila Veilmond. I agree about the face btw, I actually noticed it as soon as I uploaded it, but was waaayyy too tired to fix it then lol.
@Joyce: Thanks Joyce :).

I think I'm getting a little more comfortable with the legs. I especially wanted to work on their attachment to the torso, and balancing them both in various poses:

I was getting bored of ultra clean gesture lines, so I decided to just scribble:

Concerning the legs, I think you're drawing the thighs very thicc but the calves need work too, they need a bit of volume in order to balance out. Otherwise wonderful sketches are you're getting good at them :D

Beautiful movement in the latest bunch! I think you nailed balance on a lot of them. Inspiring stuff.

@Neso': Hmm, I'm not too sure about that. From my observations thighs are pretty thicc even on a relatively lean figure:

I venture in to your sketch book once and a while, and just go *sigh* damm there's a long way up the latter to reach your level from my point.....

Looks good, can't really give ya critique that's usable for ya, cuz to me it just looks sweet....
keep up the good work... it's good to come in here once and a while and get a reality check....
If I feel way good about my own work I just enter yours or artenthusiast sketchbooks and I know.....
Looooots of work to do still... :D :D :D

Lol, thanks Eng', I'm sure you'll get there faster than I did because you already know what the fundamentals are and you're practicing them.

I was trying to figure out Daeho Cha's style with this, he's so good at getting cartoon-ish girls to feel like real people. I don't think I did a good job with that, but maybe I'm expecting too much from just line work:

Portrait I did of an art buddy while she was on hangout:

Typical random Ambi face, but tried more of a profile view:

Some things I did yesterday, I guess those Daeho studies kinda rubbed off because this is more cartoony than what I normally do:

Even your cartoony sketches look super realistic to me. I prefer the cartoony style anyway. :)

I find the last girl portrait stunning! I think you really made her eyes expressive ^_^ but the guy looks good too though, and very nice anatomy studies as usual! :)

Thanks for the comments and compliments peeps.

Smol update:

I painted this last one 4 times, but I couldn't get it right, so I guess you'll just have to enjoy it for what it is, or hate it, either way is fine.

P.S.
I've just noticed how retardedly big I've been making eyes in this cartoonier style, it's not even part of the style I studied lol; I gotta fix that.

I was trying to figure out the secret to Nurzhan Bekkaliyev's form, I think these came out alright:
Image

I was seeing which of my styles people preferred, it seems #2 is overwhelmingly the favorite:
Image

I did this after that style test, but I'm still struggling hard with painting, this looks too chilidish in execution to me :\ :
Image

Saw a video of a Chinese artist painting in a style I really enjoy, tried to figure it out by site:

Not that great, but not that bad either I guess.

I love this one, don't know if its because of the face or the camera angle

Aaa, I love your figures... they actually helped me understand how the upper torso and the lower torso/pelvis interact with each other a bit more. I still don't feel like I totally get it, but your super-clean drawings are a big help. :D

Those face paintings are gorgeous, too. Love the colors.
