Moar master study work! It's difficult! I'm thinking that I don't want to spend too much more time on it since it's a pain in the butt and I'm having a ton of trouble with it >:l I'm still not sure what brush to use since the softer one doesn't put down colours well, but the harder brush doesn't look that great either. The placement of things seems to be very off too but I'm just having a hard time working on it :|

Copic refills came in yesterday so more work on this piece! Still needs more work but it's getting there. Not happy with how the flower section is looking though :|
(also I now some big perspective issues but I don't think I can fix them at this point whoops)

Copic drawing is finished! (at least as finished as I can get it) Not super happy with the flowers, but the recipient seems to like it so that's good enough for me :)

Woo finals are finally almost over! I should have some more time to draw again yay!

This quarter has been rough so I haven't drawn so much unfortunately. Haven't gone through all of what I have done either, so here is some stuff from April. Sorry for potato quality since they're just photos using my phone ha. I drew all of these with highlighter and inked over some of the better ones, so they're a little rough.

Lovely looking sketchbook you have here :). You draw figures and clothing well and your proportions are good as well. The faces are also very expressive almost like a miyazaki film.

One thing I would suggest though is to work a bit on facial structure. Some of the features on the faces seem a bit off or skewed. This may come from trying to draw them in an anime style which I see a lot of people do.

I think if you look up Andre Loomis heads, it should put you in the right direction and you can always go back to a more anime style.

Keep up the great work and looking forward to seeing more :).
I too mainly draw girls.

Thanks! I also noticed the face skewing with my hilighter doodles, so I'll put Loomis heads (and heads in general) as my next study focus :)

I actually already started some head study, but first some stuff I did before that:

5-22-18-ReDraw.jpg
A redraw of something I did early 2016. Not particularly happy with them, but they're better than the old one I guess ha.

I wanted to do a finished piece w/ Copics, so here's some planning stuff for one! Character here is Ayesha from the game Atelier Ayesha

WIP of current progress. It was supposed to be a quick one but I like the character too much haha. Still have to finish up the pencils before I ink

More Loomis head study but w/ no reference. Not good but I'll be practising more.

It's been a while! I just came back from vacation so no time to post :) I didn't draw too much during vacation, but I have a few things.

First, some random things from before my trip.
6-14-18-Rnd.jpg

6-19-18-Rnd.jpg

6-20-18-Heads.jpg

Also before my trip, I did a few banners for a thing on another forum. I had to rush them a little so they're a little sloppy, but I like how most of them turned out :)

Stuff I did during my trip. Mostly just random doodly things since I didn't have much time to draw (plus I didn't have computer access :/).

Woah, these feet are pretty much perfectly accurate! I'd suggest doing the same with a nice three quarters view portrait and then seeing how much you can carry over into your style.

I'm rootin' for ya, the sketchbook looks great! Have a nice day :)
...you see, it's supposed to be fi_le like the file from the computer... the one where you put the data things in.

Thanks! I tried doing what you suggested... Not sure how it turned out but I'll probably try it again.

First some other things! I wanted to do another banner for an event on another forum, so I did some planning. I also did some planning for my fiance's birthday card (which I forgot to take a photo of :|)

7-23-18-Rnd.jpg
Forgot that copics bled through this paper whoops

7-31-18-TR-AugBanner.png
The final banner. I had to rush a bit so there's definitely some weird things about it (especially the dog ha), but I think it turned out fine for the time I had

7-29-18-Rnd.jpg
Just random doodles

I recently was gifted a year subscription to Schoolism, so I started trying that out! I started with Drawing Fundamentals. I wasn't a huge fan of the teacher and he didn't seem to be teaching much that I wasn't already somewhat doing so I ended up switching to a different course, but I did do a few assignments from there.

I tried doing what fi_le suggested, and here is the result! It was a bit tricky and I'm not super happy with it, but I'll probably try again with a different ref.

More Schoolism stuff but with the Gesture Drawing course. Just gesture lines so far (which isn't that interesting to look at ha) but I feel like I'm learning more than the Drawing Fundamentals one. Plus I really need to work on gesture I think.
8-4-18-GestureLines1.jpg

8-4-18-GestureLines2.jpg

8-4-18-GestureLines3.jpg

Last thing! More work on Ayesha! Finally onto colour although I think I buggered on the skin :( Oh well, this is why I'm trying to get more practice with Copics...

Over a few days, I did a bunch more of the gesture lines for Schoolism... I'm just going to spoiler them since there's so many and they're not very interesting to look at ha. Have a bit more to go (2 pages I think?) if I want to follow the homework instructions. I'm not getting graded for it or anything (don't have that kind of money ha) but mind as well follow it when I can.

Not really happy with this, but I think it's mostly a bad mixture of not having much background experience, not knowing much about colour theory or copics, and also not having much to worth with for purples (mostly the first two though). So I have a lot of work to do if I want to get better haha...
The background is sort of based off this:

Woo last quarter was the worst! It was the most difficult quarter I've done in college ever ha. On the upside though, I get to take an easier quarter next with an art class :)

Couldn't really draw much over last quarter but I did draw a bit (plus a bit more on break). Mostly just going to upload recent stuff though cause my scanner is still broken bleh.

Finally trying again with a master study. Definitely still a WIP, but so far it's better than my previous one. Still struggling to find a good brush (or good settings for a brush) that would be good for this... I'm not particularly good at playing around with Clip's brush settings. :/

A bunch of stuff to post today! I technically have more than this but I don't have time to take photos of everything right now ha.

A quick redraw. Probably should have inked it to match the old one but oh well.

Can't really show much from class since most of it is being graded, but I'm working on the final piece atm. Has to be a self-portrait again. Not sure how it's going but for some reason I decided ink was a good idea (I'm not great with it). Here's a WIP of it so far:

I like your gestures. I also like the studies from the plates. The forms look very well defined in those and I like how the details retreat in the shadows.

It might be worth a try to start digital master copies by laying down the biggest most important shapes in greyscale using a pencil brush with hard edges. Then changing the colors using the paint bucket to something close to the colors of the master painting. Then using softer brushes for the details. Keep up the good work!

I hadn't thought of doing that for master studies, so I might have to give it a shot next time I try. It's been a while since I've done one though since they take so long to do ><;

I finished the art class final! It definitely could be a lot better but I think I'm ok with it. I only had so much time and I am not used to using india ink, so I'm just happy that it didn't turn out completely awful ha.
