Very nice! Makes me feel inferior.. D:
Really I can't find anything to advice on, maybe more dark values in the first light test, and the colored link sketch got sort of blurry. But it's all good practice as far as I can see :)

Welcome to the forum, from another newbie here :)

Why feel inferior? You're stuff is way better than mine!
and thank you, you're completely right, I over did it with the effects, and the proportions got a bit out of hand in the painting as well. I'm also still getting the hang of colors and values.
And cheers to us newbies!

Yeah, but I'm 28 and have been drawing for as long as I can remember :P (granted, my ''serious'' attempts comes quite sporadically). And I'm not all that sure my stuff is better than yours ;) But thanks :P

I do that all the time. I call it learning curves :P

Cheers!

Looking forward to see the next piece finished/more done :) I can't decide if I think tthe hand is too big, or if it does show the foreshortening/depth stuff.. I think maybe the angle of the arm is off? Like the upper arm should be longer than the lower arm, since the lower arm is more pointing towards us? I'm really not sure.
I like the colour on his face :)

Edit: and while I wrote you posted :P
I do like the sketch better.. But the wrist/angle bwetween the hand and lower arm feels better in this one. Just my opinion. I like the messy texture on the neck/scarf/jacket lining :)

The ink work looks really nice, though it's good to see you stepping out of it to start painting.
The designs and ideas all are really appealing even though some of the anatomy doesn't make much sense.

In the most recent painting the knuckles are too far away and the fingers are too far apart in case you haven't already noticed.

Yeap, you're completely right, the pose is really awkward and some anatomy is off, it was my first attempt trying to do foreshortening but I failed miserably, oh well!
And yeah, almost everyone tells me they enjoy my sketches better. DayCraze is right, I'm just starting to attempt using paint, that's why I want to improve in paintings instead of using a solid color, it's just more fun to pain.

P.S. Here's my quota for the day:

I think this looks off because his shoulders are really, really small compared to his head size, and from shoulder to elbow the arm is way too short. The colors look nice though.(May I ask if it is Yato from Noragami???))

Also, your studies are looking great. ouo
