I tried to see if I could screw up my proportions enough to do animu style, like I was twelve all over again, even added little sparkles lol.

And some stuff I got done tonight during a hangout.

Very nice work so far. You do a good job at designing. A lot of these figures and faces have some real character to them.

you're awesome! i really like how you shade some of your work with all the hashing. i like to do that too in my sketchbook and stuff. i'm wondering, how long have you been drawing? are you doing it for a hobby or like, are you wanting to be a professional or something? personally i dunno what i want to do, i think my dream maybe is to go into 2d animation someday, or doing illustrations for games or films or something.

Thanks for the compliments, I've been drawing as long as I can remember, but never took it very seriously until fairly recently. It's always just been for fun and as a hobby in my off time, but once I got a hold of a cintiq and went full digital, I've gotten a lot more serious. I don't have much of any plans besides simply the passion for getting more skilled and being able to communicate better, so my work "reads" well.

My only real plan for now is to practice every night and try to meet some like minded artists who are also dedicated to self-improvement. If I keep my word, I should be posting something in this sketchbook every night, even if it's just tiny doodles and studies, I need to develop discipline.

Remember to feel free to pick apart anything I put up, if something looks wonky or wrong, point it out. I'll also happily accept any reference materials, sites, or artist recommendations to add to my resources folder.

And a dragon/demon thing for reading my dribble:

Love your studies, you're on the right track!
As for the latest piece, I think the perspective of the muzzle is a bit off, compared to the rest of the head somehow. If you look carefully, the angle of the eyes doesn't match the angle of the front of the muzzle. Hope it helps :D

Keep up the good work!

Yeah, I flipped it horizontally in painter and could tell it's a little off, I must have forgotten to flip and check it and got used to seeing it that way. So easy to get lazy and forget to :(

i think you're the only other person on here that uses painter o: i wonder, have you discovered yet any kind of brush that's like the soft round brush in photoshop? it seems like the simplest of things but i haven't been able to find something like it painter amongst the bazillion different brushes that they have.

It's been forever since I dinked around in photoshop. If I want to use a soft round brush, I just use the digital airbrush. Seems to work fine enough for what I want out of a non-hard edged brush. I'm sure it'd be simple enough to tweak the settings on it to make it exactly like the photoshop brush.

Well you don't seem to have been struggling for too long like me on the gloves xD
I didn't knew if I should had tried to help you with your Jill, some things was bothering while you were sketching the pose, like pelvis placement, shoulders and the shotgun placement, I'll try to give you my though next time we're on Hangout!

I see that you're on your journey to learn poses and anatomy, I can only but recommand you to try now to do some quick poses using boxes and perspective!
All you need is a good punch in the face

I know it can be super awkward trying to figure out whether or not you can say anything about someone's stuff, some people can be very sensitive. I'm posting my stuff on a public venue, so feel free to pick it apart, especially if we're in a hangout together and we can bounce ideas off each other in real time.
