Finished the gorgon. I made it for a contest. I doubt I will win because I made her look ugly on purpose :| .

Did some faces. I really liked the 3rd one in the 2nd row so I tried to draw a front and side view of her. It worked out relatively well.

Is that a subtle way of saying "do more figure drawings!"? . You are right though. I should go back and use what I have learned on some full figures. Off topic: Oli, why did you change your avatar?! :o

I was so busy last month that I didn't do anything in the Sycra forum academy. I'm very sorry :( It also took me a while before I went back here because I felt so guilty about the whole thing.

Here are some sketches...

Guys, my life has been a mess since I left. I don't even know what to do. I don't even really know why I'm posting here. So much shit. Apparently I have DID and the only way we can function is if we study what each of us likes to do. I'm now back to studying art, I'm learning coding (c++), I'm writing again, I'm studying music and I was studying calligraphy before I was forced to move to Italy.

Apparently no one thinks DID is a real condition in the UK nor the rest of the EU. The NHS dealt so poorly with us that it almost got us killed. I'm just fucking glad Sycra talked about it. Otherwise it would never have clicked for me. God knows what would have happened then! I sort of expected that the heathcare system was supposed to help! But nope, just fuck off unless you have psychosis and you're just making it up when you say you can't move you fucking body.

Oli: my life has never been better purely mentally speaking, I just hope we can figure out how to make money and survive!

My artist alter draws almost everyday, but we don't have the best conditions to post it right now. I should really do it soon... this old art looks really bad.

One of the pages she was working on. We have no idea where the discolouring came from was just there when we cam back. Don't have access to my scanner currently, so the flash on my camera lit up the middle a bit too much. Hope it's okay.

They are just gesture drawings with structure, hence the wonky anatomy.

Today's work started with imagination boxes:
Image

Then following Proko's examples with the robo bean:
Image

With this page being my own attempts:
Image

Here is a page with studying Loomis heads (with some photo studies as well). I did so poorly with his simplified skulls I just decided to use a real skull for reference

This is what I did yesterday:
Warm up gestures:
Image

Next two pages are a mix of following Proko's examples and drawing from referrence:
Image
Image

Next one was supposed to be a structure study with gesture in it as well. I think it turned more out to be that plus a value study. I spend about an hour on those two figues, which was probably too long considering my art skills...
Image

And lastly, some faces. Some loomis while others from reference:

The only kind of bad studies are the ones you don't do. Each time you do it (no matter the quality) brings you that much closer to excellence. So I wouldn't beat yourself up too much over it, all these came out well because I can see the effort put into them.

Keep at it bud :)

While you are right, at some point it's better to sleep than to continue working. Thank you for the motivation and I greatly appreciate your compliments! :)

Yesterday we started with boxes...

Then Proko's robo bean:
Image

Then we did our first mannequins in a long time:
Image

This made it so much easier to draw from imagination so we did a bit of that to look at our improvement:

That was pretty motivating even though the pictures are quite old by now.

Dang dude! you really have progressed over the years. Glad to see it! I think focusing on proportions a bit more will help you bring you figures to the next level. Keep up the great work! :)

Hi Plumbum!

I wish you guys the best with your art, coding,... regarding art, keep on practicing construction. I'm sure it'll make a load of difference. And yes, I can only agree with geryes, you did improve a lot.

Good luck :)
...you see, it's supposed to be fi_le like the file from the computer... the one where you put the data things in.
