Thanks! I´m glad you think so, because getting the mood of the piece right was my primary goal when making it.

Undergångens Tidevarv - Part 2; Uppror ("Revolt")

This took waaaay longer to colour than I had originally anticipated, but I got it done in the end.
I do like the challenge of trying conveying depth in an illustration with just flat colours.

Your illustrations are definitely coming out great! I like the mood and color choices you have over all.

If I had to say one thing is that your figures do capture gesture and the feeling of the pose, but they could use a little more structure in them Certain features seem to be a little off, unless that is what you are going for.

Other than that, keep up the great work!
I too mainly draw girls.

Thank you for the critique, and your kind words!
I agree, I usually feel that my poses can be rather dynamic, but that the bodies themselves often fall victim to slightly broken anatomy or strange-looking proportions.
I think It's mostly due to the fact that I burn out of energy quickly, and simplify most bodies in a way that doesnt always work to save time and effort. I'm working on improving this though.

Would also love to hear something more specific about the most recent illustration, if you have anything - would help me to know what to work on. From what I can tell, the girl's right hand is really claw-looking and strange, and the open palm of the background guy to the right looks to flat. There are other issues as well, I'm sure.

DOPE! I like these character designs a lot! These definitely feel more structured and the over all gestures look great.

One thing I can touch on as far as your previous question goes, is hands. For the most part you do them pretty well. You get those nice folds and wrinkles in the fingers with out making them look old and wrinkled. However, I notice that when you draw the hand holding something like a hammer, the fingers either tend to be all the same length, or the way the hand is holding the hammer feels stiff.

One thing that helps me is to remember the lengths of the fingers and knuckles. If you look at your fist, you will notice that the index and ring knuckles are about the same height, while the middle knuckle is taller than the rest, and the pinky knuckle is shorter than the rest. You can do a series of curved lines to denote knuckles or even the finger tips.

The other thing to remember is that most poses with the arms tend to have a certain "hang" to them. Try extending your arm out as if you are going to shake someones hand, and you will notice your wrist naturally hangs down because of gravity. Keep this is mind when drawing the arms and hands because this tends to happen most of the time.

The other thing to remember is the length of the fingers. You generally tend to draw them in a way where they all look like they are the same length. But that could be me misreading your drawings. Even when the hand is making a fist, the fingers are not perfectly aligned next to each other and usually are grouped together in some kind of slant, i.e. the index finger is above the rest, then the middle finger, and so on.

I did some sketches to sort of showcase what I was talking about. Sorry for the rant and for my poor handwriting :). I hope this helps and keep up the great work! :)

Thank you!
Don't think that was ranty at all, I asked for it after all! :) Thank you for the great tips!
Will def do some more hand studies, maybe over all anatomy studies. There's always a great deal more to learn, especially when it comes to something as complex as the human body.

Thanks, hmm nah - just an assignement if I recall. They seem to be a somewhat regular (but you know sinix ;) ) occurance.
