You forgot a fluted copper bundt tin in your still life from hell.
Image

P.S. The bundt tin was an infamous object for the still lifes in my painting classes.

its a lovely bundt tin. I think we all have an iconic object that we continuously are forced to represent. for me it's that bloody candlestick.

I think "Let It Slow" is my new favorite image.
I'm serious that is absolutely gorgeous I'm in love with it. 10/10.

Thanks! haha it was fun to make.

I am working on this abstract painting right now. I like the composition and where it's headed, I have plans for where to take the colors and add to the composition, but I feel like my professor hates it. some thoughts would be welcome.

I also photoshopped my some of my thoughts about what to paint next:

three days of figure painting! I am fairly happy with the result this being my first live model painting. Painting a breathing human is such a different approach to painting from a photo or painting a still life. Still lifes don't sneeze.

Did a photo study today. Most detailed study I think i have ever done, with the goal of having clean and sharp brushwork, and also using texture as a tool. What I learned is that it doesn't matter what brush you use, if you want the edges to look good you just have to zoom in and scrutinize every one. I am impressed with myself for being able to paint fairly well in proportion, though. I tried not to use the color picker unless I really needed to, but that plinth gave me a lot of trouble.

The sculpture head looks good, but I feel like it's missing some of the darker shadows, particularly around the nose, ear, and cheek. Getting those in there would, I think, make it feel a lot more realistic in terms of lighting. Also, really nice job with the non-still life painting. I'm looking forward to checking back in on this sketchbook often. :)

Thank you! haha. I've been working at it about 4 years. I am a sophomore in college, now. I've been drawing my whole life, but I say 4 years because I never took it seriously, and I honestly couldn't draw a thing until I started studying.

Wow I have not posted art in here in forever. So I started going to this weekly figure drawing session, and this week was my first time drawing a male model! I liked it a lot, and I think I made some pretty good drawings.

40 min, 20 min, and 20 min poses in order.
I have to say I finished that 40 minute one pretty much in 20 minutes, after I get the proportions (i hope) and block in the shadows I'm kind of like like 'what else is there.'

This is my painting for Istebrak's design challenge 'Titan's graveyard' so far. i am really struggling with scale and depth. I really didn't want to do a landscape because I'm awful, but it's loads better than some of my other landscapes.

I saw someone else do this photo study and it made me realize it's been a long time since I did one myself.

I ended up really frustrated with making it look just like the reference and I started to think what the hell is the point?

The idea of a study is to create with the intention of resolving problems in your own work such as composition, light, colour, value etc. and improving in said areas. Unless you're specifically going for likeness the point of a study isn't to photocopy the original photo! Whilst that may amazing, and you may get better at rendering, it's more affective to study in a way that helps your learning in ways which you need it. Anthony Jones explains it better than I do:

Either way, your painting looks amazing as it is and I really like the stray paint strokes!

Thanks! That was a really good video! I think how to study is something I tend to forget each time i start to get comfortable with my abilities.

Digital portrait from life! there is not replacement for the brilliancy of colors in real life.

everything is pretty rough here, and the proportions are a bit off. But I think it has some promise. My focus was matching colors from life anyway and I think that was a good excercise.

It looks nice, good sense of light and the colours are very harmonious
